Well, we spent another day driving across the great state of Texas. We know there are other routes but we came across I 20 and there is just nothing out there ~ just flat, brown dust every where. (Sorry Joe).

We saw several signs like these preceded by signs warning "high dust storm area." (we have "blowing snow").
We saw beautiful parts of Texas on our last trip but not on this route.

There were hundreds of oil pumps, wind turbines and trucks.

This must be a major truck route cause they were everywhere.
Oh, we had to take this picture ~ there was actually a bend in the road! These roads just go straight and keep on goin'.

The scenery started to change on the western side of New Mexico and into Arizona. We originally planned to stop for the night in a one horse town in New Mexico after driving for about 8 hours but when we looked at the clock it was only 3:30 so we decided to go another hour. We kept driving and looked at the clock again ~ it was still 3:30!! WHAT?!? We had passed two time zones in one day so it was still too early to stop. What were we going to do ~ there were no people and nothing to do for miles ~ we kept driving.
Wait ~ what was this ~ all of a sudden we saw some beautiful scenery. We're not really sure where we were but we had to stop and get a picture. It was the prettiest thing we had seen in two days (in our opinion).

After 12 hours of driving we stopped in Benson, Arizona. This place was much larger that the original place we were going to stop and the real bonus was ~ the next town was Tombstone! A real cowboy town. John was sooo excited. On our last trip across the country John looked everywhere for an authentic western town but never quite found it. We threw our suitcases in the room and rode off into the sunset on to Tombstone! It wasn't bad ~ pretty authentic ~ with wooded boardwalks, saloon, play houses and cowboys.

After walking around town for a while we ate dinner at Big Nose Kate's Saloon.

just some local color ~

"Night Ya'll" what more can we say ~ it was fun!
