Leaving Alexandria

After that busy weekend, we'd like to say things quieted down but no such luck. Tuesday brought Zachary's second play-off game in the single elimination tournament. This must win game was extremely exciting to watch. We were VERY impressed with the level of play displayed by these seven year olds.

Zach's team rallied from a 7-2 deficit in the fourth quarter to win 8 - 7. The Z-man scored 4 of the 8 points. The Colorado Buffalo's will play again on Saturday for the championship.

Wednesday was lacrosse practice for Caitlin under the lights at the middle school.

Then Thursday night brought Caitlin's second play-off game. Another exciting game by the Louisville Cardinals. Unfortunately after a good rally they fell short of the win by 1 point.

Caitlin played a great game and fortunately in this league the team has to lose two games in a row before elimination so she gets to play again on Sunday.

Brendan, being too young for organized basketball, had his own tournament this week; How to beat Grammy and Grandpa in Air Hockey

And of course the daily basketball before school~

where they are all working on their 3 point shots (seriously).

Our visit started with Zachary's 7th birthday and ended with Caitlin's 9th. Preparations were ongoing all week amongst school and all of the sporting events. The new kitchen was really put to the test and would have given "The Top Chef" reality show a real run for its money.

Having a "spa" party inspired hand shaped cookies with painted nails and fancy jewels decorated by Caitlin.

Then there were the "cake pops" for school ~

the chocolate chip cookie cake for the party AND the basketball cookies for after the games this weekend.

The boys thought it was all pretty silly and had fun watching the videos of the basketball games.

Caitlin was so excited about her birthday that she set two alarms in her bedroom for 12:01 am so she wouldn't miss a minute of her special day. Dad was smart enough to check the alarms before he went to bed and foiled her plan.

Before she went to school she had opened all of her gifts and was a very happy girl.
